Imagine what it would be like to be with your spouse for 50 years. That’s 50 birthdays, anniversaries, and Valentine’s Days. It’s also 18, 250 regular days of waking up, doing the dishes, laundry, vacuuming, yard work, paying bills, shopping, fixing the cars, getting new jobs, losing jobs, losing friends, gaining friends, moving, getting sick, and everything else that goes into normal living.
If you have kids there’s the added pleasure and hardships of pregnancies, births, late nights up with a newborn, and chasing toddlers. Then your kids start school, and that means homework, friend drama, sports practices, music lessons, PTA, fundraisers, etc. Once they become teenagers who are learning to drive, have jobs, attitudes, and adult size problems. Then they move out and become adults that you have no control of anymore. You worry about them just like you did when they were young, but you can’t do anything about it.
50 years of being together through life’s ups, downs, and all the in between moments needs to be celebrated, and celebrated BIG. It’s an amazing accomplishment that is not at all common anymore. It’s one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever seen.
This couple raised two boys. He was their baseball coach helping them get to minor and major league teams. Now he works at a local high school and helps coach his grandson’s baseball team. They are beyond cute, and I loved spending time with them, and hearing their story.
I would LOVE to do more sessions like this. If you know of a couple celebrating their 50th anniversary send them to me. I’ll give them a great deal.
