Fall 2017 Studio News

I have to confess I have been terrible about updating my blog and Facebook with my latest work. Life gets very busy, but I'm still working. I love my job, and I'm excited about the busy fall season. Read below for session options, and how to book your spot. I would love to see you!

VENTURA COUNTY

This spring I was hired to photograph the county of Ventura. It was so fun to travel all over the county. Here are a few images from the project I've been working on. It has been a lot of fun.

BOOK YOUR FALL SESSION NOW!

If you have been thinking about booking a session this fall in time for Holiday cards now is the time to do it. My weekend dates are almost gone, and I would love add you to my calendar! I've had a few years experience booking Fall sessions, and each year it seems that clients procrastinate booking their sessions, and then we have to hurry and scramble to get it all done in time. I've decided I want my holiday season to be less frantic, and I'm hoping the same for my clients. For that reason, any session done after 11/25 will be charged a rush fee of $100. Hopefully that's an incentive to get your session booked before then.  Read below for more information.

FULL SESSIONS

Full sessions give you the most flexibility and time to get beautiful and natural images of your family. It takes time to warm up to the camera, and relax into the environment you're in. Full sessions allow you to do that without rushing. This means you'll receive many more images, and some more natural smiles and interactions between you and your family. You also have more control of the time and place where your session is held. MINI SESSIONS

This option is great for people who only want an updated family photo without all the bells and whistles of a full session. Most of my mini sessions are with families who have had sessions with me before, and are familiar with my style. It's also a great option for people whose husbands will only agree to short and sweet sessions. Mini session dates are as follows:

• October 14th in Westlake Village
• November 4th in Thousand Oaks

The cost for mini sessions is $187.50 to reserve your spot, and $187.50 is due the week of the session. The cost includes your session fee, full editing on every image, and 15 image digital downloads. Prints, canvases, and albums will be available to purchase after you have seen your images. Giving Back

This year I celebrate 9 years in business. I've been incredibly blessed to do what I truly love. This year I am giving away 2 sessions. One session to a deserving family nominated by you, and one to one of the families who booked a session in 2016.

Take Better Pictures

Do you love taking pictures, but don't love how they turn out? Do you wish you knew some tricks for making your everyday pictures more beautiful? If you answered yes, then you might be interested in taking my beginning photography class.

In this class we'll cover what makes a great photograph. I'll show you easy ways to find good lighting, composition, posing, and tricks for getting smiles out of kids. These classes will be small - only a few people so I can help you with your camera and answer any questions you may have.

Bring your camera, whether it's an iPhone, or a fancy DSLR because this class is interactive. We'll be taking pictures indoors and out. I believe that you learn so much more from doing than watching, so there will be time to practice and ask lots of questions. If you don't leave knowing how to make your pictures better I've done something wrong.

2016 Favorites

Moms out there are so busy every day taking care of their kids, going to work, cleaning up, doing laundry, playing, organizing, entertaining, and planning. It's a largely thankless job, except for those brief hugs and snuggles that keep you going. It's exhausting and grueling. There's nothing else like it. Dads are in the same boat. The dads who aren't staying home with the kids come home from a long day at work and jump right in. Gone are the days of them sitting and reading the paper after work while mom does everything. I love how involved and hands on dads are now. How lucky the kids are to be close to both parents.

When families book a session with me I am always honored. I know how much work it takes to schedule a time when you can all be together, dressed in your finest, with big happy smiles. It is always worth it though! These images will be with you forever. Moms, I promise you that in 5-10 years you'll look back and see yourself and think, "I look so young!" You'll wish you appreciated how great you looked, and how much energy you had (even though it doesn't feel like it now). I know this from experience. Trust me, it will happen.

2016 brought me a whole host of beautiful babies, children, teens, and families for me to photograph. Clients, I love you and appreciate you more than I can ever express. You help me fulfill my dreams. you bring me joy through my camera, and in the countless hours I spend at my computer looking at you. I hope this isn't the last time I see you. Come back in 2017. I can't wait to see you again.

Fall Mini Sessions

It's that time of year to book Fall sessions. Why should you take a few minutes at the end of August to do this?

1. Weekend dates are usually booked for the rest of the year by September. Weekday sessions are available for those who wait, but appointment times are limited.

2. Remember all those holiday parties, carnivals, and family events that happen in November and December? Your schedule will be full, and you'll most likely be overwhelmed.

3. You will feel much more relaxed at your session knowing you aren't rushed to get everything done. Your images will be ready far in advance to give you time to make holiday cards, and custom gifts.

This year you can choose between a full session, or a mini session. Here are the advantages to each:

Why Book a Mini Session?
1. Your session is done in 20-30 minutes. This is often very popular with husbands, and teenagers who are reluctant to come to a photo session.
2. You don't have to worry about the location. I tell you where we meet up, and it's all planned for you. You just have to choose between the beach or the oak trees as a background.
3. All of the digital files are included in the price. You will receive a gallery full of the images ready for download to use as you wish.

Why Book a Full Session?
1. There is a lot more time to get to know each other. This means everyone is more relaxed, and the smiles are real. This is great for wardrobe changes, toddlers who may need a break, andlarge families.
2. You can choose the location with suggestions from me.
3. You choose the date and time.
4. The full pricing menu is available to you, including digital files and custom pieces for a full service studio experience.
