A community of talent
What I love most about being the cover photographer for Valley Vista Neighbors Magazine is that I get to meet people in my community doing amazing things, that I never would have been able to otherwise. Here are a few from this year alone.
Meet Mark Burley. He is a television writer, director, and producer, but he also found the time to create the Santa Rosa Valley trails to save open space, and create a beautiful place for residents to walk.
She is an amazing artist who’s home is so beautiful you will want to stay and enjoy the view forever.

Have you ever heard of Abel Reels? He makes world class fishing reels right at his home in Somis. His reels are so good he helped end the Cold War by giving one to a diplomat of the Soviet Union. If you ever meet him be sure to ask him to tell you the story. It’s fascinating.
If you’ve ever driven through Somis you’ve probably driven past Fulkerson Hardware. This building is actually a historical landmark. The business has been handed down through the generations since 1912. It’s not only a business, but also a museum. Be sure to visit when you can.
I love meeting people who are so creative they make everyday things remarkably beautiful. Her mosaics are all over her home, and they are beautiful. She’s so generous with her time that she teaches children how to create mosaics as well. Her home is a tour of beautiful things she has created.
